Maria Svarbova

Mária Švarbová was born in 1988 in Slovakia. She studied conservation - restoration and archeology, however since 2010 she has been dedicated to photography as her main tool of artistic expression. She lives and works in Bratislava, Slovakia.



In the Swimming Pool is Maria's largest series yet, originating in 2014 and continuing to develop to date. 















I like her Swimming Pool photos very much. The vintage blue swimming pool
background with the model in rad bathing suit form a strong visual contrast. This color reminds me of the eighty s in China, or North Korea, but model's rigid posture and simple one-piece suit gave me a fashion sense from the future. This series of works give the impress of "super"realistic impression of time and space confusion.

Lin Yung Cheng  who is a Taiwan artist like explores women's ethical and social issues through his unique photographic approach. "The definition of women in today's society is particularly narrow, evaluative and not free, and the media has played a particularly important role in this," he said in a speech. Many women often shave and lose weight in order to keep up with the trend and maintain their image. As he highlights the discomfort in the picture, what he wants to say is that the smooth skin, the slim figure may be beauty, and perhaps it is torture. In my opinion, Paprika is a very fantastic film, it was mirrored human nature of the film.
